Joy Akinkunmi, 17, decided more people should learn about this historic Nova Scotian community.

So she wrote and directed the documentary Africville: A Community Displaced. 

The 18-minute film focuses on a Black Canadian community that faced discrimination in Halifax, Nova Scotia
