Summer Employment

Africville was a close knit community on the shores of the Bedford Basin until it was relocated. The Africville Heritage Trust was created to oversee the creation of a fitting memorial to Africville. The first step in this process was the re-construction of the Seaview Baptist Church, which was completed in the fall of 2011. The church is presently being used to house exhibits and audio-visual kiosks which tell the story of Africville.

The museum is seeking candidates interested in gaining summer work experience within a community museum setting. The selected candidates will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of museum work including programming, special events, collections, exhibitions, hospitality, and grounds and gardens. for someone who will be responsible for retelling the story of Africville to visitors attending the museum. This will be achieved through interpretation, educational programs and guided tours.

Interested candidates please submit your resume to admin@africvillemuseum.org by May 3rd and any questions you might have to Andrew Howe at: andrewafricvillemuseum@gmail.com 902-422-1116 or 902-412-7833
